Our next Intro night will be in January and we'd love to see you there!
Read below and follow our social media, or check back here for more info to be announced.
Twice a year we offer a 4 month intro class, which we call the Fundamentals Team, where we teach you everything you need to know to start playing Roller Derby!
31st of January 2025, 19:30 - 22.00, Ryparken Håndboldhal, Lyngbyvej 110
Email us at fundies@copenhagenrollerderby.com to sign up and click "attending" on the Facebook event.
Our 12 week intro course usually starts in August/September and January/February.
We encourage everyone over 18, regardless of skill level and gender to come try this amazing sport for themselves! - and yes, you can join, even if you cannot roller skate at all at this point!
If you are under 18, you can join our juniors
Quad Roller Skates, comfortable sports clothes and a water bottle. You must wear knee pads and elbow pads, wristguards and a helmet (skater).
We do have some Roller Derby skates and gear that you can borrow, but we can't promise that we will have enough for everyone. Therefore, we recommend you buy some skates. it's important that the skates don't have a heel (i.e. jam skates). Basic quad skates for Roller Derby or park skating will be fine to start with. If you stick with it, you'll likely upgrade your skates after about a year. Affordable starter Roller Derby skates are Riedell R3, Bont Quadstar, or Chaya Ruby. It can be difficult to source Roller Derby skates in Denmark unfortunately, but you can buy them easily online in Europe via: suckerpunchskateshop.com, doublethreatskates.co.uk, and rollerderbyhouse.eu
Helmets, elbow pads, wrist guards, knee pads and mouth guards can be purchased in Copenhagen at Mills

Q: HOW OFTEN DO YOU TRAIN?
A: We offer x2 weekly Fundamentals Trainings and x3 Advanced Trainings
Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO PLAY?
You must wear quad roller skates, wear knee pads, elbow pads, wristguards, a helmet and a mouthguard
Q: I'M NERVOUS! I'D LIKE TO PRACTICE SKATING BEFORE THE INTAKE. WHERE SHOULD I SKATE?
A: It's okay to be nervous! Many Roller Derby skaters had never skated before starting Roller Derby, so we get it. We recommend you try skating indoors or outdoors on very smooth, flat surfaces. Indoor: you can go to Ørestad Streehal on Amager - it's open to the public from 08:00 - 22:00. Sometimes the court is booked, but the rest of the hall is open to all. Outdoor: Amager Strandpark or Mimersparken.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?
A: The current price is DKK 125 per month.
You skate some trainings before you register as a member, so you get to try before you buy!
Q: IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING?
A: We have a safer space policy at Copenhagen Roller Derby - this means it's important that we all encourage an inclusive and accepting space for everyone to feel welcome. We speak English at all of our trainings and Facebook correspondence and we ask all of our members to use gender neutral language on track. If this is all new to you, no problem! We all make mistakes and we help each other to make the club an empowering space for all :)
Q: HOW DO I TRANSITION FROM FUNDAMENTALS TO ADVANCED?
A: There's no rule that says when you have to be ready to train with the Advanced Teams. We know that people learn at different paces, and it is possible to continue on our fundamentals skating level until you're ready to make the leap to join the Advanced Teams
Q: I MISSED THE LAST INTAKE & IT'S THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON. CAN I STILL JOIN?
A: Well that depends! If you already have some very basic skating skills, then maybe you can join up to around 6 weeks in. You should drop us an email and we can help to gauge if you should come along or wait for the next one :)
Q: I PLAYED IN ANOTHER LEAGUE, BUT I ONLY FINISHED THEIR FUNDAMENTALS INTAKE, AND THAT WAS <INSERT NUMBER OF YEARS AGO>! WHAT SHOULD I DO?
A: You should come along to our fundamentals trainings and we can help to assess and see if you are safe/ready to join the Advanced Trainings , or if you should continue to the end of the current Fundamentals Intake. Drop us an email!
